Martin Eisler
Martin Eisler (1913–1977) was the son of art historian Max Eisler, one of the founders of the Austrian Werkbund. In Vienna, he studied under architects such as Oskar Strnad and Clemens Holzmeister, and in 1938 he moved to Buenos Aires, where he first exhibited in 1940. In 1945, he founded the company Interieur, marking the start of his career as a designer. He moved to Brazil in 1955, where he collaborated with Carlo Hauner and became Artistic Director of Forma. He was also a respected architect, set designer, and opera director.
Martin Eisler's work is characterised by creativity that permeates every detail, from architectural projects to furniture.
His attention to customisation and the innovative use of materials helps define a distinctive style, always balancing functionality and aesthetics, focusing on the quality of materials, such as exotic woods, and the perfection of craft techniques. His works, such as the Reversível and Costela seating, remain symbols of elegance and innovation in the design world.
