Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni

The Castiglioni studio was founded in 1938 by brothers Livio and Pier Giacomo. They were later joined on various projects by Luigi Caccia Dominioni and, eventually, Achille. The collaboration between the three brothers continued until 1952, when Livio began to pursue parallel activities, although he continued to work with Pier Giacomo and Achille on specific installations. After Pier Giacomo’s death in 1968, Achille continued to work with the same approach, to the extent that it is virtually impossible to detect a shift in his work, other than that brought about by technological and social evolution.

The work of Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni is distinguished by the complete absence of a rigid division of tasks: both actively participated and constantly exchanged ideas.

This vision evolved alongside society and technology, never altering the essence of their design approach, which has remained consistent and true to the principles that characterised them from the very beginning.
